Assisted Competitive Employment (ACE) - Employment Care Manager

 

Grade 8+   Salary $21-$23.64/hr.                                          FLSA Non Exempt

 

The Employment Care Manager will provide support to individuals including pre-vocational assessment of employment preferences, career goals, benefits counseling, resume development, and assistance and support to promote job placement. The goal of ACE is to obtain and maintain competitive employment for a minimum of 10+ hours a week. This program is for individuals (ages 18+) not receiving ACCES-VR Employment services. Additionally, the unique piece of this program is to provide mental health support to address any stressors so that individuals can maintain their employment. These are community-based services requiring visits to job sites and outreach to referral sources.

 I.                Qualifications:

A.    Education / Experience

1. Minimum education high school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2. Minimum one year personal or professional experience in providing direct services related to treatment and recovery of persons with serious mental illness.

3. Experience and/or training in vocational counseling and job development preferred.

B.    Skills

1.     Ability to network and interact with local employers and travel independently within the community.

2.     Good computer skills with working knowledge of or ability to learn reporting tools such as New York Employment Services System (NYESS).

3.     Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

4.     Highly motivated and independent self-starter.

5.     Ability to adhere to paperwork deadlines, perform assessments, prepare

reports and complete other documentation as required.

6.     The ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing

40 lbs. or less.

 7.  Valid Driver’s license and the ability to legally operate a vehicle in NYS.

 II.             Responsible to:   Core Services/ACE Program Manager

 III.           Major Functions:

 A.    Program

 1. Use ACE model to identify individuals who have a vocational goal, identify vocational preferences and plans, support finding and maintaining competitive employment at least 10+ hours a week, provide benefits counseling and job coaching.

2. Develop network and maintain ongoing relationships with local employers for job placement opportunities for individuals.

3. Outreach to community service providers/referral sources and provide education about services.

4. Works in conjunction with the IPS Specialist in the completion of a vocational assessment and the coordination of employment related services.

5. Complete Employment related documentation required for NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH), Broome County, and New York Employment Services System (NYESS).

 B.    Catholic Charities / Community Related

 1.       Adheres to Catholic Charities Policies and procedures.

2.       Maintains awareness of community resources relevant to individual needs. 

3.       Completes initial and ongoing relevant trainings as required by Catholic Charities and all tiers of NYESS Trainings.

4.       Perform related job duties as required.
