Boys Community Resident Educational Tutor
DIVISION: Youth, Family and Community Services
DEPARTMENT: Boys of Courage
HOURS: 10-15 hrs/wk. flexible
GRADE: FLSA (Non-Exempt)
I. QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education/Experience
1. New York State Certified Teacher
2. One year teaching experience
B. Skills
1. Good oral and written communication skills
2. Good interpersonal skills
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional
relationships with school systems
4. Ability to develop and coordinate various aspects of an educational lesson plan
5. Ability to work effectively with adolescents
II. RESPONSIBLE TO: Program Manager
III. MAJOR FUNCTIONS
A. Primary Duties
1. Provide ongoing input to group home regarding the educational status of adolescent
2. Administer approved pre- and post-test to each student
3. Provide tutorial services at approved on-site or off site locations.
4. Document progress regarding each student’s status
5. Act as a liaison between individual student, family, staff and the educational system.
6. Complete all required lesson plans and notes in a timely manner
7. Advocate for any special education needs of the individual by providing as
needed input
8. Attend planning conferences, student and prospective student
meetings as needed
9. Develop a schedule of tutorial sessions and submit to supervisor for
review
10. Facilitate a positive understanding on the part of staff concerning an
individual’s educational needs
11. Advise supervisor of any concerns regarding a student’s educational
plan
12. Perform other job related activities as directed by supervisor
