Registered Dietician - Per Diem

REGISTERED DIETICIAN – Per Diem

FLSA Non-Exempt                                                                                   

I.         QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience

Must be a Registered Dietician with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and be a Certified Dietician/Nutritionist in New York State.

Must have a valid NY or PA driver’s license

Ability to work with and support a Multi-disciplinary Treatment Team

II.        RESPONSIBLE TO: Program Manager

III.      MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

Manage the nutritional care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities residing in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), or as needed in an Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA).

Provide MNT (Medical Nutrition Therapy) through the nutritional assessment process to residents through documentation in the medical record, at least on a quarterly basis.

Continuously monitor the resident’s progress and update their care plan accordingly.

Interprets the physician’s diet orders and modifies the diets accordingly.

Completes calorie counts when indicated.

Collaborates with the clinical team regarding nutritional interventions.

Provides nutritional education/guidance and counseling to residents/families.

Writes/reviews/updates and approves seasonal menus to meet all guidelines and nutritional therapy to residents.

Provides in-service education on nutrition, food safety, and sanitation to staff.

Reviews food service disaster plan and approves menus.

Participates in Quality Assurance program. Conduct meal/sanitation/safety audits at least every 6 months and make recommendations for change and/ or improvement.
