Catholic Charities Hosts Holiday Sign-ups for Assistance

Catholic Charities is hosting Holiday sign-ups for Thanksgiving Baskets, as well as for Christmas gifts for families with children 10 and younger. This is a joint effort by the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, and United Ways 2-1-1 to offer a one stop location for the families of Broome County. It will take place on Monday, October 21st , Tuesday, October 22nd, and Wednesday, October 23rd from 12 noon till 6 pm at Catholic Charities, 232 Main Street, Binghamton. Families and individuals can sign-up for a Thanksgiving Basket and at the same time sign their children up for Salvation Army’s Christmas Program. Residents of Vestal, Endwell or Endicott (13760 and 13850 zip codes only) may sign-up for a Thanksgiving Basket only, at Mother Teresa’s Cupboard, located at 203 Garfield Ave. in Endicott on Monday, October 21st and Wednesday, October 23rd from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m.

Those individuals signing up, should provide proof of residency within the last 30 days for all individuals 18 years and older; ID for each member of their household, and meet at least one of the following qualifications:
-On Public Assistance
-Eligible for SSI/SSD
-Eligible for HEAP
-Receiving unemployment benefits
-Receiving free or reduced school lunch
-Receiving WIC/School Lunch Program
- Receiving services by an agency, school, or church
